Theatertreffen Blog
Culture journalism on the netTwo years ago the online-journalist and blogger Stefan Niggemeier complained about the low quality of many websites in his speech “Schlechter online” (“worse online”). The main thesis: “The publishers and television stations are currently trying if they can get away with less journalism on the internet.” Since then much has changed: Bloggers like Niggemeier receive important prizes for journalists, publishers invest in their online editorial offices. For young journalists to make their way in the field of journalism, online competence is more important today than ever before. After the successful start of the Theatertreffen Blog 2009, the festival will therefore again support six emerging arts journalists aged 35 or under, as well as one photographer, from May 7th to 23rd 2010 in order either to give them their first taste of working online or to extend their existing experience. On www.theatertreffen-blog.de they will reflect the Festival on stage, off stage and backstage and capture its atmosphere in words, images and sounds. For the duration of the project the online correspondents will be mentored by professional cultural critics. The participating journalists will each receive an expense allowance at an appropriate level, accommodation in Berlin, travel costs and festival tickets.
The deadline for applications for the 2010 Theatertreffen blog passed on 15th February.
We would like to take this opportunity of thanking the many interested and interesting applicants. Who will be blogging in May will be decided by mid-March. The seven participants will then be introduced here.
