Application information for the 2012 Theatertreffen Blog

Applications for the 2012 Theatertreffen Blog are open to German- and English-speaking arts critics in any medium up to the age of 35 who have journalistic experience, an interest in the theatre, a good knowledge of German and their own blog on cultural or social subjects. In this way the Blog will promote an understanding of theatre on the web. The Theatertreffen will also use it as a way of launching its own discussions.

The selected bloggers will receive an expenses allowance, accommodation, travel to and from Berlin and tickets to the festival. They need not necessarily be theatre experts, but may concern themselves with contemporary cultural and social developments which are also examined in the theatre.

In accompanying seminars they will discuss contemporary cultural issues and online journalism with experts. Their participation in the 2012 tt Blog enhances the knowledge of the German-speaking theatre scene among young international cultural critics – and the exchange between German-speaking and international bloggers, particularly the development of new formats of arts journalism on the web. The readership will also be extended to younger interested parties internationally who educate and themselves and receive information through mobile and digital media (Blogs, Facebook, Apps).

The Rudolf Augstein Stiftung is sponsoring the Theatertreffen Blog for the second time in 2012 and supporting a new generation of digital cultural critics. Media partners are the Berliner Zeitung (since 2009) and exberliner (since 2010).
