Notes on functions and receptions in the Martin-Gropius-Bau
Classified as a historical monument, the Martin-Gropius-Bau in Berlin is a building in which international exhibitions are presented. Its central location and its generous dimensions in the middle of the city, located opposite Berlin's parliamentary building and near Potsdamer Platz, make the Gropius-Bau an important centre of attraction.Functions taking place on one or several days can be carried out in the Martin-Gropius-Bau. The amount of time needed for preparations varies greatly and depends on the size, set-up and number of participants. It is recommended to visit the premises in order to make preparations.
The rent is subject to negotiations between the participating parties. The exact costs cannot be calculated without knowledge of the event. Expenses can include surveillance, technical personnel, costs for utilities, cleaning, insurance, etc.

1. North Vestibule The north vestibule (300 m²) is located near the entrance area of the Martin-Gropius-Bau and is suited for stand-up receptions of up to 200 persons. With its glass dome, top light and round opening between the main storeys, it can be used on both the ground floor and the upper floor. |

2. Atrium The atrium on the ground floor with its glass ceiling is the central space of the Martin-Gropius-Bau with a surface area of 600 m² in the inner area and 600 m² in the surrounding gallery area. The upper floor of the atrium is also surrounded by a gallery. Receptions and functions for up to 700 persons can take place in the atrium, when it is not used as part of the exhibition architecture. It is possible to light up the atrium with daylight-like illumination. |

3. Gallery of the Atrium in the Upper Floor The gallery (600 m²) can be used for small functions of between 250 (seated meal) and 500 persons (stand-up reception). The gallery on the upper floor provides an impressive view of the atrium. |

4. Cinema Hall The cinema hall with 200 seats is located in the substructure of the Martin-Gropius-Bau. Various forms of screen projection make the cinema hall an attractive venue for screenings: two 35mm film projectors with mechanically coupled film feed (lenses and masks are available for the formats 1:1.37, 1:1.66, and 1:2.35 - Cinemascope); a 16mm projector with mechanically coupled film feed.Sound equipment: Dolby processor CP55 for reproducing Dolby A coded soundtracks. Video and DVD projection possible via a permanently installed LCD projector. Internet connection via glass fibre network and MAN is available. |

5. Conference Room The large conference room offers space for 40 persons. Variable tables allow for both large conference rounds and smaller working groups. The conference room is on the second floor. A table microphone system is available. |

6. “Gropius” Restaurant The “Gropius” restaurant, seating 120 persons, is located in the foyer of the ground floor and includes a summer terrace. The leaseholder of the restaurant has the exclusive title to provide food and service in the Martin-Gropius-Bau. It is also possible to serve food outside of the restaurant. 7. Parking At the Martin-Gropius-Bau there is a public car park belonging to the building with 200 parking spaces. Car park tickets can be purchased by the event organizer. |
