Data Protection Policy

The Berliner Festspiele (subsequently “BFS” or “we”) takes the protection of your personal data very seriously. These data protection regulations inform you about how we handle your personal data.

Scope

These data protection regulations apply solely to the use of the www.berlinerfestspiele.de website, subsequently “website”. If you visit any other website, the data protection regulations of the respective website provider apply. This includes cases when we refer you to a third party website via a link. In such cases, we recommend that you inform yourself on the linked website about the ways that they handle personal data.

Personal Data

Personal data means any information relating to the personal or factual circumstances of an identified or identifiable natural person. Your personal data includes all information which can lead to you being identified such as, for example, your name, address, telephone number or e-mail address.

Collection and Storage of Your Data

When you visit the website, the BFS automatically collects and stores the name and version of the browser you are using, the operating system used, the volume of data transferred, the URL of the data accessed, the website from which it was accessed as well as the date and duration of your visit. When you visit the websites, the BFS’s web servers neither record your full IP address nor the domain name of the computer you are using. The server is configured in such a way that automatic logging of this information does not take place.

Cookies and Web Analysis

Cookies are small text files temporarily stored by a web server in your internet browser in order to access this information again at a later date. Cookies are used among other things for personally-tailored websites and for user ID.

Specific online services on the BFS website possibly require the use of cookies, for example, to save your personal settings. These cookies are only valid for that particular session and are deleted when the browser is closed.

If the security settings of your internet browser prevent the use of one of our online services, you will receive an automatic message. If this happens, you will have to adjust your browser settings to allow cookies. You can prevent the use of cookies by setting your web browser to not accept new cookies, to notify you of new cookies or to delete all cookies already received. You can find assistance in changing the settings via the help function of your web browser. Please note that some features on our websites can only be used when cookies are allowed. We therefore recommend that you keep the cookie function switched on.

Some of our web pages contain links to websites of other companies. It is possible that these companies use their own cookies. These cookies have varying lifetimes and can only contain data relating to you personally if you have provided corresponding information on the website in question.

The BFS website collects and stores data for the purposes of marketing and website optimisation using etracker technology (www.etracker.com). This data is used to create a pseudonymous user profile. Cookies can be used for this process.

Data collected with etracker technology will not be used to personally identify the visitor to these web pages without the explicit consent of the affected party and will not be combined with personal data relating to the holder of the pseudonym. You can reject the collection and storage of data by etracker at any time with effect for the future.

Advertising, Newsletter

The BFS also uses the data you provide to inform you about special offers from the BFS and its affiliated partners. You will only receive newsletters via e-mail following your explicit consent and only via post as long as you have not objected to the use of your data.

You need a valid e-mail address to receive the Berliner Festspiele Newsletter. We will check the e-mail address you give us to confirm that you are its holder or that its holder has authorised receipt of the newsletter. This safeguards us against cases where a third party is misusing your e-mail address and has signed up to receive our newsletter without your knowledge. We will not collect any further data. We will use the data collected in this way exclusively for the subscription to our newsletter. We will not pass it on to a third party. We will not connect the data collected in this way with any other data that may have been collected via your use of other components of our website.

Use of Google Maps

On some of our web pages we make use of Google Maps to show maps, including venue information and directions for travel. Google Maps is operated by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. With the use of our websites, you automatically accept the collection, processing and use of data that is collected automatically or is entered by yourself by Google, its representatives or third-party suppliers.

The conditions of use for Google Maps can be found at Google Maps/Earth Terms of Service. More detailed information can be found in the data protection center of google.de: Transparency and Choice and Privacy Policy.

In addition, the BFS takes technical and organisational security precautions to protect your personal data which is handled by the BFS against accidental or intentional manipulation, loss, destruction and access by unauthorised persons. The IFB’s data processing and security measures are continuously improved in line with technological developments.

Credit card details are used only once and exclusively for the fulfilment of a contract without any further intermediate storage.

For your own personal security the BFS recommends that you protect your password and computer against access by unauthorised persons. If you share your computer with others, you should make sure that you log out after every session.

Right of Revocation

If you give or have given consent to the BFS to collect, process or use your data, you can revoke this consent at any time with effect for the future. You can do so by sending an e-mail to .
