“For me the forum was
a kind of initiation,
which did more to connect me
with the theatre than anything
I had ever experienced before.
I believe the international forum is
one of the most important institutions
in the German theatre.”
Carl Hegemann, dramaturg of the Volksbühne am Rosa Luxemburgplatz, Berlin on taking part in the 1985 international forum.
tt internationales forum 2006
Part of the Theatertreffen from 7th – 21st May 2006 in BerlinFor over forty years, the international forum has offered young theatremakers from around the world the opportunity to discuss aesthetic questions, develop their skills in workshops and participate in the most important German-speaking theatre festival. Applications are invited from young professional theatremakers from all countries working in an artistic capacity in the field of spoken drama. The forum is intended as a platform for a comprehensive practical and theoretical exchange of questions, opinions and observations, whether this is in Tokyo, Buenos Aires or Osnabrück.
The international forum is part of the Theatertreffen, the most important German-speaking theatre festival. Seven independent critics watch over 300 theatre productions in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and together choose the ten most significant productions of the current season which are then invited to Berlin in May. In addition to this, the Theatertreffen also works with emerging artists in all aspects of spoken drama. Around 100 talented young theatremakers from around the world are invited to Berlin by one of the three tt talent platforms: the international forum, the Stückemarkt, now in its 27th year, and the festival newspaper which was launched last year.
