The author stirred readers and critics alike with his debut novel, “As we dreamt” – it revolves around the experiences and memories of narrator Daniel Lenz, who indulges in post-Wall freedom in the east of Leipzig with his clique. Alcohol, drugs, crime form the flavour their days and nights.

Clemens Meyer, born in Halle/Saale in 1977, lives in Leipzig. Following school and jobs such as working as a watchman and as construction worker, he studied at the German Literature Institute in Leipzig from 1998–2003.
