The author followed the trials held against the war criminal from the former Yugoslavia at The Hague Tribunal and in Croatia. She reports her experiences and observations in her book “They would never hurt a fly”.

Slavenka Drakulic was born in Rijeka, in what is today Croatia, in 1949, and now lives in Stockholm. Her intelligent and sharp analyses of Yugoslavia and Eastern Europe, the Balkan Wars and the new states which emerged from them, have been compiled into five books so far.
