William Basinski

William Basinski is a classically trained musician and composer who has been working in experimental media for over 25 years in New York City. His haunting and melancholy soundscapes explore the temporal nature of life, resounding with the reverberations of memory and the mystery of time. His concerts, installations and films made in collaboration with artist-filmmaker James Elaine have been presented internationally, and his concerts are presented around the world. Recent projects include the music for “The Life and Death of Marina Abramovic” (Robert Wilson), orchestral transcriptions of “The Disintegration Loops” by Maxim Moston and his homage to David Bowie, “A Shadow in Time (for David Robert Jones)”.
