Rudolf Frisius

Rudolf Frisius, born in 1941, studied mathematics, philosophy, art history and musicology in Hamburg, Frankfurt and Göttingen. He has specialised in New Music since 1959, participating regularly at the International Summer Course for New Music Darmstadt as well as residencies in studios for electro-acoustic music and acoustic art (in Munich, Utrecht, Cologne, Paris and Bourges, among other locations). His publications focus on music theory (e.g. research on the chord, notation and composition) and New Music, especially acoustic art and electro-acoustic music as well as individual composers, such as Messiaen, Schaeffer, Henry, Bayle, Xenakis, Kagel, Cage, Rihm, Stockhausen.
