Hedvig Mollestad Trio
- Saturday, 1 November 2014
- Haus der Berliner Festspiele, Side Stage
It’s no wonder that Rolling Stone senior editor David Fricke is a self-confessed fan: Hedvig Mollestad makes instrumental jazz rock more enthralling than it has been in a long time. Her style is both virtuoso and feverish, while retaining a Nordic cool – her improvisations can cause what feel like a thousand melodies to flare up, only to return to the starting point with astounding twists. In her trio she bundles the full force of heavy rock and electro jazz; her high-volume performances are reminiscent of the great moments of ‘70s hard rock without seeming in the least anachronistic.
Beware! Things could get loud.
