Theatre for young audiences in Germany
Debate as part of “Augenblick mal! 2009”

Past Dates

German city theatres are increasingly turning to young audiences – with youth issues, young artists, young forms of performance, a youth programme, and whoe sections devoted to them. Are they hoping to give themselves a future by injecting fresh cells? Should the audiences of tomorrow be tied down? Is everyone attracted to cultural education and participation because of a sense of social responsibility? Is the traditional role of theatres dedicated to children and young people obsolete?

As part of the children’s and young people’s Theatertreffen “Augenblick mal! 2009” there will be a debate following Constanza Macras’ “Hell on Earth” between Eva Behrendt (Theatertreffen juror), Kristo Šagor (curator of “Augenblick mal! 2009”), Dennis Meyer (Artistic Director, Het Lab, Utrecht) and Ursula Jenni (Director TUSCH Berlin, juror for Youth Theatertreffen), chaired by Birgit Lengers.

In cooperation with the Centre for children’s and young people’s theatre in Germany.
