Sing your own day, with elements of your day-dreamed life. A few words, maybe a couple of sentences, that can then be taught to the others present. Enough for us to repeat and find a melody together, by following the spontaneous musicality of the voices, singing a minute of one’s life.
A simple set of rules guiding us, we come together as a choir, body and voice. At the entry of every newcomer in the space, the choir might go silent, as a manner of welcoming and incorporating them. Someone leaving would generate another group response, a few other structuring laws concern the duration, repetitions, contrasts, variations.
If you come at the beginning of the session, we do a vocal warm up and small observational tasks – looking closely at each other, our attitudes, positions, breathing, weight, expressions, taking in everyone’s individuality. Taking in our position both as observer and observed, letting the interplay of these contrasting positions modify our presence. An audience’s “conspiration” (as in con-spirare, breathing together), looping in and out of each other.
