This lunch is a culinary experience extraordinaire. In her performance, the Finnish artist Nina Backman, now based in Berlin, invites you to entirely focus on your own senses while eating an upscale three-course menu from Culinarium and to practise the art of silence. The responses to “Silence Meal”, which is guided by the artist in person, are as individual and unique as the participants themselves. Hierarchies or cultural, social or political differences fade into the background and within the silence, paths of communication emerge that need no words.
The Sunday morning of the Jazzfest is about discovering different realms of experience: After the neighbourhood concerts at the Fasanenplatz with musicians from the Mary Halvorson Octet and Kim Myhr's formation for “You | me”, a sense of quiet will return to the Festspielhaus with Nina Backman's “Silence Meal”. In addition, the Julia Stoschek Collection will be offering special guided tours through the exhibition of works by Arthur Jafa.
