Concerts in the neighbourhood
at a hairdresser’s, in a living room and in a gallery
Jazzfest Berlin is leaving traditional venues behind and bringing the festival right into the neighbourhood! The artists will be performing up close and personal: In a private living room, a small gallery and a barber shop – six short concerts by musicians from the Mary Halvorson Octet and Kim Myhr's formation for “You | Me” will be taking place at the Fasanenplatz right around the corner from the Festspielhaus. Two sets of 20 minutes each will be performed at each location, and the artists will be playing together in different constellations – a special, intimate concert experience for up to 30 audience members, the hosts and, of course, the musicians themselves!
The Sunday morning of the Jazzfest is about discovering different realms of experience: After the neighbourhood concerts at the Fasanenplatz with musicians from the Mary Halvorson Octet and Kim Myhr's formation for “You | me”, a sense of quiet will return to the Festspielhaus with Nina Backman's “Silence Meal”. In addition, the Julia Stoschek Collection will be offering special guided tours through the exhibition of works by Arthur Jafa.
