Constructing Future Moments

Playwrights are, as Julia Jarcho puts it, psychic. They predict and construct future moments that re-contextualise an audience’s understanding of time – all the while remaining present in their current and past selves. By “writing” a play, the playwright is able to create a blueprint that was made of the past, exists within the present and operates for the future. Operating from this perspective, how can a playwright’s writing process more accurately channel the necessary trappings of a future happening?
