Playwrights are, as Julia Jarcho puts it, psychic. They predict and construct future moments that re-contextualise an audience’s understanding of time – all the while remaining present in their current and past selves. Operating from this perspective, how can a playwright’s writing process more accurately channel the necessary trappings of a future happening?
