Klangforum Wien II, Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart
Emilio Pomàrico, conductor
Two of the leading ensembles of contemporary music – Klangforum Wien and the Neue Vocalsolisten from Stuttgart – have joined forces for the second concert in the Musikfest Berlin to give the world premiere of a new work by the Greek-French composer Georges Aperghis, which was composed to suit them perfectly.
When it comes to ensemble music of our time, these two are at the forefront: Klangforum Wien for the instrumental challenges and the Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart for the vocal challenges. Both groups were founded by and for musicians who want to create the best possible performance conditions for contemporary and new works. The two ensembles have often collaborated on concert, performance and musical theatre projects. Now they have commissioned a work that makes full use of the skills of both ensembles and takes into account the personality of each of their members. Georges Aperghis knows both of them from many a joint projects. He has made a composition full of the tension between individual and group, couples and competitors, their erosion and inner magnetism. „We walk alone or together, we climb the mountain, our music accompanies us day and night, we reach the summit, then ...” The work is divided into a large number of chamber music movements with various smaller and larger instrumentations.
