Stefano Bollani – Stian Carstensen Duo

Past Dates

Erkan Ogur – Philip Cathérine

Guitarist Erkan Ogur’s main instrument is a fretless guitar. The fretlessness enables him to play oriental scales more easily. A very characteristic sound to his credit Erkan Ogur has been vital in developing Turkish pop music since the mid-80s. He ranks amongst the most respected musicians in his native country leaving his musical signature on several albums by Sezen Aksu or Mazhar-Fuat-Özkan. Apart from successful film scores, e.g. for the Yavuz Turgul film Eskiya – the Bandit, Ogur has been making his own CDs with Armenian duduk player Djivan Gasparyan. Belgian guitarist Philip Cathérine – a friend of 20 years – has been a fretless player himself at one point.

Stefano Bollani – Stian Carstensen Duo

Stefano Bollani and Stian Carstensen are two like-minded musicians: curious about their environment they like telling stories and entertaining on a grand scale. From soloist to symphony orchestra player Bollani has fulfilled many tasks. Playing in trio format with Clarence Penn and Scott Colley he is also performing with Enrico Rava on a regular basis. Carstensen is a jack of all trades in regards to music. He will be showing his talents as well with Farmers Market at the Delphi on Nov. 4th.

Ferenc Snétberger Trio

Three musicians form a trio of ever-changing character: Hungarian Berlin-resident Ferenc Snetbérger manages to tie up both traditional and contemporary elements, merging folk, classic and jazzrock in his guitar playing. Norwegian bass player Arild Andersen is well-known as a subtle and sensitive experimental expert since the end of the 60s. Italian percussionist Paolo Vinaccia has been performing with musicians like Nils Petter Molvaer, Bugge Wesseltoft or Terje Rypdal. The trio’s outstanding get-together is well documented on the CD Nomad (enja).
