For “The Sun Machine Is Coming Down” the keyboardist, composer, and producer John Carroll Kirby has focused, for the short period of one hour, on creating musical improvisations based on his solo piano pieces that range between the genres ambient and jazz.

John Carroll Kirby, a Jazz pianist based in Los Angeles, offers his fans short films that he posts almost on a daily basis on Instagram. His film sequences allow those who are interested to take part in his artistic creation – and if one sends him a message, it will usually be answered at least with an emoji. As part of the ICC programme, one of Kirby’s self-made films will be projected in Saal 2, filmed in his apartment specifically for this purpose.
