Cooking is an inherent part of Ogboh’s artistic practice, as is making beer. He uses this as a metaphor to reflect on migration and cultures, and on how to live and work together. Food not only provides nourishment, but can also remind us of home and revive memories. The fusion of ingredients is an important part of discovering new tastes, be it out of pure curiosity or a lack of accessibility to certain products.
Emeka Ogboh lives and works in Berlin and Lagos. Through his audio installations and gastronomic works, Ogboh explores how private, public, collective memories and histories are translated, transformed and encoded into sound and food. His installation Ámà: The Gathering Place is currently on view in the Gropius Bau atrium.
