A transformation process towards more ecological sustainability in the theatre has long been underway. While political decision makers are negotiating new framework conditions and launching new funding concepts, employees of cultural institutions are getting involved in very individual ways: they educate themselves and initiate processes of rethinking these issues – not without meeting challenges and resistance. Deutscher Kulturrat, 3sat and Theatertreffen will get together to discuss these developments and ask: How much sustainability is realistic in the cultural sector? Will it perhaps lead to restrictions on artistic freedom? What do political decision makers and cultural funding institutions want to accomplish, what are they able to contribute? What are the expectations of theatre makers?

Representatives of the Forum Ecological Sustainability / Green Ambassadors, which the Theatertreffen founded together with the Aktionsnetzwerk Nachhaltigkeit in Kultur und Medien, will give a keynote speech to kick off the subsequent cultural and political discussion.
