Edward Elgar’s oratorio “The Dream of Gerontius” is about a dying man and the journey of his soul to heaven. This masterpiece will be performed by an orchestra and choir from Birmingham, the city where the piece was first performed, and of whose orchestra Elgar was the first conductor back in 1920.
