Koninklijk Concertgebouworkest – Mariss Jansons
Past Dates
Literature provides the background to the works in this programme. Hans Werner Henze’s “Sebastian im Traum” was inspired by the three-part poem of the same name by the Expressionist poet Georg Trakl. It is still debated just how closely Gustav Mahler’s First Symphony makes reference to German writer Jean Paul’s novel “Titan”. The structure of his symphonies are, however, certainly novelistic in scope.
