The young author’s first collection of short stories, “Sightseeing” (2005), was received with unanimous praise. These seven stories demystified the exotic travel destination of Thailand to the western eye. The author reads from “Farangs” which portrays the brute conventions of pleasure seeking tourists as well as the envious contempt of the locals who depend on them.

Rattawut Lapcharoensap, born in Chicago in 1979, grew up in Bangkok. His first stories were published in “Granta” and “Best American Voices”, amongst others. His short story debut appeared in eleven countries and was met with great enthusiasm.
