In “The last body of Ursula” a confessional monologue Suada evokes a dark atmosphere of despair and violence. The experience of full body paralysis after an accident sets the protagonist in an intoxication of hatred and bitterness, in which her vengeance for all the pleasures of others turns towards her own body.

Patricia de Souza, born in 1964, numbers among the most noteworthy voices of Peruvian literature. Fear, loneliness and an encompassing feeling of inadequacy as well as violence feature as predominant themes in her work. The author lives in the foothills of the French Pyrenees.
