Ricardo Azevedo, author and illustrator, was born in 1949 in the Brazilian metropolis of São Paulo and is one of his nation's most renowned writers of literature for children and young adults. After studying Visual Communication at university, he worked in advertising before writing his doctorate on popular stories in children’s literature in 1997th Since 1980 he has written over 100 picture books, stories and collections of poetry for children and young adults, in which he strikingly captures the realities of adolescents, their dreams, fears and passions. The multi-award winning author lives in São Paulo.
