The adolescent’s search for meaning, rebellion, religion, pets and drugs, the first period and first love – in “Episodes 3&4”, there is no less to narrate. Shortly before the end of high school, it’s time to look back at the years from 14 to 18 and to deal with the big topics – the desire for freedom and independence from the prison of the parental home. The Nature Theater of Oklahoma fittingly chooses the most dramatic of genres for this chapter of “Life and Times”, the unfinished saga of a life in an American suburb. In a chamber drama where the stage set and scope of action make reference to Agatha Christie’s “The Mousetrap”, the emotions of unease, guilt and confusion associated with puberty become frighteningly tangible. With conspiratorial voices and expressions as icy as the painted landscape through the window, the ten performers – from the arsenal of classic bizarre Christie characters – confess dark secrets about youthful experiments and emotions in the best murder-mystery style. A complex, conceptual coming-of-age-thriller.
