Audrey Chen / Sven-Åke Johansson
Music on Sunday afternoon
- Sunday, 23 March 2014
With her cello, voice and analogue electronics, Audrey Chen invents music in which she creates her own version of narrative and non-linear storytelling. A large component of her music is improvised and her approach is intuitive. In her performances, Audrey Chen explores the possibilities to combine analogue synthesizer sounds with instrumental colorations and to layer them with traditional and extended techniques in both the voice and the cello. All of these elements are part of her multi-layered vocabulary, which she brings together to form a unique and ecstatic personal language.
Schuco tönend ! (Schuco sounding !) – Music is in many things and it is not rare that these things evoke vivid memories. In the second part of the concert, Berlin-based composer, musician, poet and visual artist Sven-Åke Johansson turns a small but “legendary-valuable-modern” metal 1970s toy into the selected protagonist of his performance.
