Francesco Filidei
Francesco Filidei was born in 1973 in Pisa. He completed his music studies at the Luigi Cherubini Conservatory in Florence and at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris always awarded priority. In the year 2000 he completed the course in composition and technology at IRCAM and in 2004 the composition course Voix Nouvelles in Royaumont.
He has been invited in several important festivals such Darmstadt, Donaueschingen, Wien Modern, Musica Strasbourg, Biennale de Venise, Milano Musica, Printemps des Arts Monaco, Agora Ircam, Mata de New York, Archipel de Genève, Huddersfield, at the Berliner Philharmonie, the Theaterhaus in Vienna, the Ircam in Paris, Milano Musica and the Forum Neues Musiktheater in Stuttgart. Both as a composer and organist he has been recorded by Radio Tre, RadioFrance, SWR, RSR.
His works are published by Rai Trade and performed by various ensembles such as 2e2m, Musikfabrik, Linea, l’Itineraire, Alter Ego, Instant donné, NEM, EOC, l’Intercontemporain, Les Percussions de Strasbourg, Klangforum, Cairn, Recherche, Ascolta, Next Mushroom Promotion, Tokyo Sinfonietta, Ars Ludi, Icarus, Ictus, Signal, Neue Vocalsolisten, Radio Vienna Orchestra, Orchestra Sinfonica Rai, WDR, SWR, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra.
In 2006 he received the Musikpreis Sazburg Förderpreis and the Commande of the Reading Panel Ircam. In 2006 he was composer in residence at the Academy Schloss Solitude in Stuttgart. In 2007 he won the Japanese Takefu International Prix and became member in residence of the Casa de Velazquez in Madrid for two years. In 2009 he obtained the Siemens Förderpreis and in 2010 he was professor of composition for Voix Nouvelles in Royaumont and invited professor at Iowa University and Takefu Academy. He won the Picasso-Miro Medail UNESCO in 2011 and the Villa Medicis Residency programme in 2012.
