The Austrian choreographer and dancer Florentina Holzinger was born in Vienna in 1986. She studied Choreography at the School for New Dance Development (SNDO) in Amsterdam and received both the European dance WEB scholarship in 2008 and ImPulsTanz Wien’s 2011 scholarship. Her solo work “Silk” received the Prix Jardin d’Europe at ImPulsTanz in 2012. Together with Vincent Riebeek, she developed a trilogy of works: “Kein Applaus für Scheiße”, “Silk” (both in 2012) and “Wellness” (2013), all three of which can still be seen at international performance festivals today. With “Agon” (2014) and “Recovery” (2015), she created two solo pieces with related content within a short period of time. “Schönheitsabend” (2015) is the last artistic result of her collaboration with Vincent Riebeek so far. Holzinger is a co-author of the web-series “Body and Freedom” (2016), recorded as part of the festival Foreign Affairs. During a residency at the International Choreographic Arts Center ICK Amsterdam, she developed the piece “Apollon”, which was co-produced by Münchner Kammerspiele. In 2018, “Apollon” was invited to the Impulse Festival. In June 2019, the designated artistic director René Pollesch introduced Florentina Holzinger as a constant member of his creative team for the Volksbühne from 2021. Her piece “TANZ” brought her first invitation to the Berlin Theatertreffen.
