Wesley Chinn

Wesley Chinn has performed widely as a baritone and countertenor as well as playing violin, jowza (Iraqi spike fiddle), guitar, and lute and appearing as a kazoo player in Zankel Hall with Pierre-Laurent Aimard and in Alice Tully Hall with Tyondai Braxton. His appearances with his sister Hai-Ting began with a duet (as sopranos) in the grade school talent show, and have included countless after-dinner duets at the piano as well as a wide variety of actual professional engagements. Wesley also maintains an active career as a music educator and administrator that has seen him start children’s choirs in New Orleans and New York, work with a variety of groups attempting to redefine classical music for the modern age, and found the baroque opera company Opera Omnia. Born in Arcata, CA, Wesley received a degree in music and women’s studies from Harvard University and lives in Queens, New York, with his wife Jennifer and 2-year-old daughter Emmeline who is currently working on her own rendition of “Tomorrow.”
