Bara Kolenc is a performance artist and philosopher from Ljubljana, Slovenia. She holds a Ph.D in Philosophy from the Department for Philosophy at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana. She has recently published her book “Repetition and Enactment: Kierkegaard, Psychoanalysis, Theatre” at Analecta, DTP, Ljubljana. Shaped by extensive training in classical and contemporary dance, receiving also the danceWEB Scholarship at ImPulsTanz in 2003, she has created 10 evening length performances thus far, several youth performances and numerous solo performances, installations, lecture performances and experimental videos. She is constitutional member of two artistic collectives: Threshold collective and Eat-Art collective, and member of the board of the International Hegelian Association Aufhebung. She presented her last piece “Metamorphoses 4°: Blackholes” in March 2018 in Slovensko Mladinsko Theatre in Ljubljana. The piece was supported by the Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung/bpb and was co-produced by Schauspiel Dortmund and Kino Šiška Centre for Urban Culture. For her work, she has received several awards, most recently the Theatertreffen Stückemarkt Commission of Work 2016.
