Bass Tareq Nazmi gathered first stage experience at the Bavarian State Opera’s Opera Studio and later on, joined the Opera´s ensemble where he could be heard in various roles including Masetto, Speaker, Truffaldino, Publio or Osman in “Les Indes galantes”.
In the past season he made his role debut as Filippo (“Don Carlo”) at Theater St. Gallen, could be heard as Banco (“Macbeth”) in Antwerp and starred in a concert tour with concerts in Lucerne, Milan, Hamburg, Athens, Vienna and Brussels under the baton of Teodor Currentzis in Verdi’s “Messa da Requiem”, in Beethoven’s “Missa Solemnis” conducted by Kirill Petrenko in Munich and in recitals with pianist Gerold Huber in Cologne, Regensburg and Ingolstadt. Highlights of previous seasons include Bottom in Britten’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” in a Damiano Michieletto production at Theater an der Wien, Speaker in Mozart’s “Magic Flute” at the Salzburg Festival with Constantinos Carydis conducting and Verdi’s “Messa da Requiem” at the Tonhalle Zurich under the baton of Sir John Eliot Gardiner.
In the 2019/20 season Tareq will make his debut as Colline at the Metropolitan Opera and can be heard – this time in a staged production – of Verdi’s “Messa da Requiem” at Hamburg State Opera as well as in a new staging of Beethoven’s “Fidelio” by Mateja Koležnik at the Baden-Baden Festspielhaus with Kirill Petrenko conducting the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. On the concert stage he will appear under Manfred Honeck in Haydn’s “The Creation” with Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome, tour the US and Europe with Beethoven´s 9th Symphony under Sir John Eliot Gardiner and sing alongside Christian Gerhaher in Schumann’s “Scenes from Goethe’s Faust” at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.
As of July 2019
