Samson Young studied Music, Philosophy and Gender Studies at the University of Sydney and obtained a doctorate in Composition from Princeton University. From this audio-based perspective, he not only creates music, but also installations, performances, drawings, walks and films. His musical-sculptural works often have a specific historical background and deal with locales of conflict. Each of his projects is based on extensive exploration and field-research. Sounds and music are used as vehicles of the processing and presentation of historical events, but at the same time, they are at the core of an aesthetic experience that stands for itself and requires no additional explanations.
