Anke Charton

Anke Charton is Assistant Professor of Theatre with the Department of Theatre, Film and Media Studies at the University of Vienna. She holds a PhD in Theatre Studies from Leipzig University and has previously worked at the Detmold School of Music and at the School of Music and Theatre Hamburg.

Her work is centered at the intersection of Performance Studies, Musicology and Gender Studies; recent publications include papers on migration, agency and queerness, the historicity of gendered vocal aesthetics, and the emerging language of theatre in Early Modern Spain. Currently, she is working on a monograph about the margins of Golden Age narratives.
