Ricarda Merbeth
Ricarda Merbeth is in demand worldwide as a Wagner and Strauss interpreter. Until 2005 she was a member of the ensemble of the Vienna State Opera, where she made her international breakthrough in 2004 with the title role of Richard Strauss’s “Daphne”. In 2010 she was appointed Kammersängerin at the Vienna State Opera. Since 2006 she has appeared as a freelance singer at the world’s leading opera houses, including the Bayreuth Festival, Hamburg State Opera, Bavarian State Opera, Vienna State Opera, Milan Scala, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin, New National Theatre Tokyo, Opera Nationale de Paris, Teatro Real Madrid, Dutch National Opera, La Monnaie in Brussels, Royal Opera House in London. She sings all important roles in her field: Elektra, Helena, Ariadne, Marietta, Marschallin, Senta, Leonore, Emilia Marty, Elsa, Marie, Isolde, Goneril, Elisabeth and Venus, as well as the Brünnhilden in Wagner’s “Ring”. Ricarda Merbeth works with conductors such as Daniel Barenboim, Pierre Boulez, Semyon Bychkov, Riccardo Chailly, Myung-whun Chung, Daniele Gatti, Marek Janowski, Mariss Jansons, Philippe Jordan, Fabio Luisi, Ingo Metzmacher, Kent Nagano, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Seiji Ozawa, Roberto Rizzi-Brignoli, Donald Runnicles, Pinchas Steinberg, Christian Thielemann, Constantin Trinks. In 2018 she made her debut as Elektra at Milan's Scala and then sang the role at the Berlin State Opera. In 2019 she sang among others Senta / “Der Fliegende Holländer” at the Semperoper Dresden, Leonore / “Fidelio” in Tokyo, Turandot at the Opéra de Marseille, Isolde at La Monnaie in Brussels, Färberin / “Frau ohne Schatten” at the Philharmonie Berlin, Helena / “Ägyptische Helena” at the Milan Scala.
