Dr. Christina Schulz
Born on the island of Rügen in 1972, Christina Schulz studied economics at the University of Bremen from 1999 to 2003. Between 2003 and 2006, she took a doctoral degree on the subject of public cultural sponsorship in Germany, with a focus on the performing arts. During and after her doctorate, she worked in the administration department of Kulturveranstaltungen des Bundes in Berlin GmbH, in the division of Berliner Festspiele. Since 2009, Christina Schulz has been the director of Berliner Festspiele’s National Contests, which are carried out with financial resources of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. In this position, she initiated the new formation of the National Contest, Tanztreffen der Jugend. She published various papers on regulatory issues of public cultural sponsorship and taught as a visiting professor on the degree courses for cultural work at the Potsdam University of Applied Science and culture management at the University of Music Franz Liszt in Weimar in 2008 and 2009. From 2012 to 2015, she was a member of the advisory board of the Children’s and Young People’s Theatre Centre of the Federal Republic of Germany. In September 2018, she was elected onto the Berlin Council for the Arts.
