Born in Syria, Farhan Sabbagh is one of the world’s few living oud virtuosi. He is also composer and a master of Arabian percussion instruments. He first studied Music and Composition with his father and uncle, and then subsequently in Damascus and Cairo. In 1981, the International Institute for Traditional Music (IITM) invited him to present Arabian music in Europe. He has lived in Berlin ever since, performing in numerous projects with international musicians and founding several ensembles. Professional musicians come to him for advanced training. His extensive career includes many concerts worldwide and numerous international LPs and CDs.
