Laura Andreß studied Theatre, Film and Media Studies in Vienna and, after working as an assistant at various German-speaking theatres and festivals – including the Burgtheater, Vienna, Wiener Festwochen, PACT Zollverein, Essen, ImPulsTanz, Vienna – completed a Master’s in Dramaturgy at the “Ernst Busch” Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin. Since then, she has worked as a freelance dramaturg, director and production manager (for Florentina Holzinger and others), participating across a range of performative and documentary forms for theatre, television and film. Her theatre works have been seen at venues such as the Volksbühne Berlin, Festspielhaus Hellerau and the Münchner Kammerspiele. She is a member of the Vienna-based collective DARUM, with whom she has created works at the cutting edge of performance, spatial and action art that have received several Nestroy Prize nominations and been invited to the Impulse Theater Festival and the Hofer Filmtage. In 2019 Andreß was awarded the Austrian Federal Chancellor’s Starting Scholarship in Performing Arts.
