Eyad Abuali

Eyad Abuali received his doctoral degree in Middle Eastern studies from SOAS University of London. He was part of the European Research Council funded SENSIS project at Utrecht University from 2017 to 2020, examining the cultural history of the senses in the Muslim world. Currently, he works as a postdoctoral researcher at The Berlin Institute of Islamic Theology at Humboldt University. His work examines the intellectual, cultural, and societal realties of medieval Sufism with a focus on the history of the senses and emotions. His current research project analyses the history of emotions in the Sufi traditions of medieval Iran, Central Asia, and the Middle East.
