Jens Brand

Jens Brand was born in 1968 in Dortmund. He studied at the Kunstakademie Münster. His interest in experimental music, concept and sound art was influenced by Phill Niblock and also by performances at Het Apollohuis in Eindhoven, Netherlands. Since then, Jens Brand has created a multitude of installations, music performances and intermedia works. He has received several grants, composition commissions and prizes. In 2003 he was a grant recipient at Villa Aurora in Los Angeles. From 2005 to 2012, Jens Brand organised the Brückenmusik in Cologne together with hans w. koch. His most recent works include “Ze Bif”, a collaborative effort with Marcelo Aguirre, and the “Kleine Weltmaschine Donaueschingen”, which was developed for the Donaueschinger Musiktage 2011. Jens Brand has lived in Berlin since 2010.
