Argentinian author and theatre director Rodrigo García was born in Buenos Aires in 1964. Since 1986, he has lived and worked in Madrid. In 1989 he founded his own theatre company, La Carnicería Teatro (Butcher Theatre), which staged several of his experimental productions and works, mainly in Spain and France.
Rodrigo García has written many plays, including the recent works La historia de Ronald el payaso de McDonalds (The history of Ronald the McDonald’s clown, 2002); Compré una pala en IKEA para cavar mi tumba (I bought a spade at Ikea’s to dig my grave, 2003); Cruda. Vuelta y vuelta. Al punto. Chamuscada (Very Rare, Rare, Medium, Burned, 2007); Versus (2009) and Muerte y reencarnacion en un cowboy (Death and reincarnation as a cowboy, 2009). Soll mir lieber Goya den Schlaf rauben als irgendein Arschloch (I’d rather Goya robbed me of sleep than some arsehole) has been on at the Berliner Schaubühne since 2011. Gólgota Picnic was created in Madrid at the beginning of 2011.
