Anthony Pateras
Born in 1979, Australian composer and pianist Anthony Pateras is currently based in Brussels. His works propose strict formal structures which are offset by intuitive flexibility, and are often augmented by analogue electronics, digital diffusion, or both. International ensembles and soloists have performed his compositions. Pateras, who also plays a prepared piano and an array of analogue keyboards, has a special affinity for percussion instruments, and these often play a prominent role in his music. He has composed works exclusively for percussion as well as for such diverse formations as strings, wind instruments, drums, electronics and celesta and for the synthesizer. Beyond this, Anthony Pateras has been performing in various noise and rock bands since the 1990s.
