Dirk Rothbrust
Cologne-based percussionist Dirk Rothbrust studied at universities in Saarbrücken und Karlsruhe. He is primarily active in the new music scene. Since 1995, he has been a member of the Schlagquartett Köln and since 2006 an active member of Ensemble musikFabrik. In addition, he regularly gives guest performances with the Kammerensemble Neue Musik Berlin, Klangforum Wien, Ensemble Modern and various radio orchestras. As a soloist, he has given concerts with the Deutsche Symphonie Orchester Berlin and the orchestra of the Beethovenhalle Bonn. The percussionist has premiered several solo and chamber works and has collaborated with such conductors as Hans Zender, Sylvain Cambreling, Steven Ashbury and Beat Furrer. Dirk Rothbrust also collaborates in projects anchored between contemporary music, jazz and improvisation and has an active teaching career.
