Mazen Kerbaj was born in 1975 and lives in Beirut. His interests include painting, comics and music. Kerbaj has published several books, short stories and drawings in anthologies, newspapers and magazines in Lebanon as well as in Europe. His works have been exhibited in his home country as well as in France, Sweden, Switzerland and Germany. Kerbaj is also an important actor in the Lebanese improvisation scene: he plays the trumpet and, together with Sharif Sehnaoui, co-founded Irijal, an experimental music festival that has taken place annually since 2001 in Beirut. In addition, Mazen Kerbaj has performed both as a soloist as well as in various formations in Lebanon, Syria, Europe and the USA with Sharif Sehnaoui, Christine Sehnaoui, Raed Yassin, Stéphane Rives and Axel Dörner, Tony Buck, Magda Mayas, among others. 2015/2016 he is a guest in the music department of the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program.
