Curatorial Tour with Julia Grosse and Christopher Wierling

Julia Grosse is an art historian, curator and strategic advisor at Gropius Bau in Berlin. She is a lecturer at the Institute for Art in Context (Universität der Künste Berlin), a member of the University Council of the Munich Academy of Fine Arts, and regularly serves as a jury member, most recently for the German Pavilion at the 61st Venice Biennale. Together with Yvette Mutumba, Grosse is the founder of the international platform Contemporary And (C&); both were awarded the “European Cultural Manager of the Year” prize in 2020. Among her work, she curated John Akomfrah’s first major institutional exhibition in Germany at the Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt and is organising the most comprehensive institutional solo exhibition to date by the artist Gabriele Stötzer at Gropius Bau in Berlin in 2026.

Christopher Wierling works at the intersection of cultural studies and artistic practice as a curator in Berlin. Since 2022, he has been part of the curatorial team at Gropius Bau. Together with Jenny Schlenzka and Yasmil Raymond, he co-curated the exhibition Rirkrit Tiravanija: DAS GLÜCK IST NICHT IMMER LUSTIG (2024) and worked with Hendrik Folkerts on Vaginal Davis: Fabelhaftes Produkt, the Berlin iteration of Vaginal Davis: Magnificent Product (2025), organised by Moderna Museet, Stockholm, in collaboration with Gropius Bau and MoMA PS1, New York. With Julia Grosse, he has realised Dabei sein und nicht schweigen,  the largest exhibition to date by the artist Gabriele Stötzer. Previously, Wierling developed discursive and performative mediation formats for Haus der Kulturen der Welt (2019–2022) and the Berlin Biennale 12 (2022) and contributed as producer and dramaturg to the immersive installation Absorption (2020–2022) by artist Asad Raza.
