Opening of Our Outdoor Play Space

BAUBAU heads outdoors! Just before the summer holidays begin, our new outdoor play space SommerBAUBAU at Gropius Bau is opening – free of charge and open air. Under trees and sun sails, children can experiment with clay and other materials, get messy and play freely in the pavilion in front of Gropius Bau. On Saturday, 4 July, we’ll be celebrating the opening from 10:00 – with a kid’s DJ set by Calamidades Lola from 15:00 to 18:00 and, of course, ideally with you!
You’ll also be able to buy homemade slush ice cream from a stall run by our restaurant Beba on the day.
SommerBAUBAU was designed by artist Kerstin Brätsch and, weather permitting, invites children to play outdoors every day (except Tuesdays). Should the weather forecast for the day in question be unfavourable, we will move the activity indoors. In that case, our playworkers will welcome you as usual at BAUBAU on the ground floor of Gropius Bau.
By the way: Children play in the clay without shoes. Please dress your little ones in clothes that can get dirty, and ideally bring a change of clothes. We look forward to seeing you!
Calamidades Lola is a record hunter, DJ and radio host born and raised in Barranquilla, a city on Colombia’s Caribbean coast known for its rich culture of celebration, where music offers a path to joy and liberation. She grew up surrounded by massive, colorful picó sound systems that made the entire barrio vibrate with African and Caribbean rhythms. Currently based in Berlin, the sound that she shares on the dance floor, in listening sessions or on radio shows, is influenced by her musical roots and her migratory experience.
