Niklas Binzberger

BPA at Gropius Studios

Niklas Binzberger’s works focus on manifestations of interpersonal power relations. He employs objects as lures or traps, the “work” hides its purpose, the audience is targeted. It is a work of deception.

At the Gropius Bau, Binzberger installed an object that resembles a heat sink but contains a camera with which it takes pictures of its observers. The work gathers data from every such encounter and investigates the ways by which aesthetic judgments are determined by social formations.
