Being involved in artistic and curatorial processes, jointly conceiving ideas and teamwork are the primary focus of Kids Curate_Takeover. The three-year-long project organised by the Gropius Bau in cooperation with the cultural foundation Stiftung Brandenburger Tor enables Berlin pupils to experience and navigate their way from art production to an independently curated exhibition. Elementary school students from the current Max – Artists in Residence an Grundschulen programme of the Stiftung Brandenburger Tor will make regular visits to the Gropius Bau during the 2019/2020 school year and get to know the operational activities, processes and professions of the exhibition venue. At the end, the primary school students implement their own exhibitions on-site. Last summer, students from Picasso Grundschule (primary school) kicked off with Takeover. Plastic Catches Mushroom at the Gropius Bau’s south terrace, featuring artists Roberta Busechian and Tue Greenfort. This year, Takeover is being held in cooperation with the Carl-Humann Grundschule, the Blumenviertel Grundschule, the Heinrich-von-Stephan-Gemeinschaftsschule and the Picasso Grundschule.
