Jazzfest Berlin Radio Edition
This year’s Jazzfest Berlin Radio Edition continues – on a slightly reduced scale – a proven model of co-operation from the previous year: in close collaboration with ARD public radio, projects are presented within the festival that showcase the impressive variety and innovative power of Germany’s jazz scene.
In four pre-produced video concerts from Munich, Freiburg, Bremen and Cologne, that can be experienced online on Berliner Festspiele On Demand and as part of the festival stream, and one live concert in Berlin, Jazzfest Berlin Radio Edition presents music from across the entire spectrum.
Ranging from a premiere of the duo Luise Volkmann & Elisabeth Coudoux with highly performative improvisations (WDR3) through the sextet by pianist Rainer Böhm (SWR2) to the genre-busting approach of the trios TMT xplosif (BR KLASSIK) and DanCity (Radio Bremen). Another highlight of the Radio Edition is the live concert by the Hannes Zerbe Jazz Orchestra in the Kleine Sendesaal at rbb in 6 November in co-operation with rbb Kultur.
With Jazzfest Berlin Radio Edition the festival intensifies the partnership with ARD public radio that it has enjoyed for decades and once again demonstrates the importance that these radio stations attach to promoting and popularising German jazz and crossover artists.
The concerts of the Jazzfest Berlin Radio Edition will only be included in the festival stream in excerpts. They will be available in full length on Berliner Festspiele on Demand at the times indicated in the program overview.
