Yahia Yaïch Amnesia by Fadhel Jaïbi, created in collaboration with the playwright and actress Jalila Baccar, was premiered before the »jasmine revolution« and has since been regarded as a theatrical premonition of the latest events in Tunisia. The central character is a ruler who has been deposed and who wants to leave the country but ends up in a psychiatric hospital.
Fadhel Jaïbi is one of the leading and the most controversial artists of the Maghreb. His work is shown throughout the Arab world, in cities including Beirut, Damascus and Cairo, and is regularly invited to Europe: in 2002 he was presented in a workshop as part of the last Berliner Festwochen.
